I Don't Read.

I'm actually quite embarrassed to admit this since my Mom has a library science masters... but I dont read. My parents and my sister love to read, but me... I dont read. This has bothered me for some time now, but I've always had the excuse of being too busy. Well, its actually bothered me a lot recently. I cant hold my concentration when reading a little article now without my mind wandering from topic to topic. so I've decided I REALLY need to attempt to reign in my brain and increase my vocabulary and general knowledge. I'd like to start with some reading candy... something to keep me interested and that I'll be able to speed through. My brain isnt quite ready for "war and peace". So, I'm open to suggestions. What have you read that you just couldnt put down???

my favorite series right now is the Yada Yada Prayer Group by Neta Jackson. I read all 7 books in about 2 months. I couldn't put them down. Great, great books!
I didn't know your mom has a Library Science masters, my mom does too. She has two masters actually. Her first one is in Business Management and then she decided to go back to school and and get her Library Science masters so she could advance her career in the library system. Pretty cool stuff. Funny that both our moms have that masters. if you need more suggestions for books, i have a few more i can suggest. i've read a lot in the last year or so.

Lauren, I prefer Chick Lit - easy to read and entertaining! Love love this when I am traveling for work. Anyway one of my favorite books recently came out in a movie, it is called PS I Love You - great book@

You probably wouldn't like the kind of stuff I read because I'm a huge fantasy nerd. However, about a year ago I read 'Blue like Jazz' after being prodded by everyone I knew who had read it. And it really was a great book. Also, I absolutely love 'Me Talk Pretty One Day' by David Sedaris. Laugh out loud funny, and the chapters are more like different stories out of his life than one continuous tale, so if you get a little ADD you can just read one chapter and put it down.
I'll let you know if I think of more.

Lauren,

Jodi Picoult is really good. I enjoyed her novel Plain Truth.

Here are a few of the books that I'm looking to read:

I'm currently reading An Inconvenient Book.

Then I'd like to move on to Liberal Fascism.

And then finally to Epicenter: Why Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future.

Ahhh, this is why we made good roommates, well one of the reasons. Who wants to read when you can watch a movie or goof off. :) I too have recently felt bad about not reading..ever. If you've started and found anything good to keep your attention let me know. I have a friend who just loves a series called shopaholic, I might try those.
